Oklahoma CareerTech board candidate guide

Tech center boards vs independent school boards

Oklahoma technology center (CareerTech) board candidates use the same Board of Education statutory filing window as school boards for the 2027 cycle — December 7–9, 2026 — with elections on February 9 and April 6, 2027 when contested. Confirm your zone/seat with the county election board.

Zone and seat nuance

Technology center districts often elect by zone. File for the correct office/zone, and get your district’s seat map from the district or county election board before printing literature.

Fundraising differences

Many CareerTech campaigns draw on employer partners, alumni, and program champions. Use appropriate donor sources — not the state voter registration file for commercial solicitation (26 O.S. § 7-103.2).

Ethics

Local Ethics rules and the >$1,000 registration threshold still apply when you meet them. See Ethics local campaigns.
