OKC wards may vote in February 2027 under the city charter — do not apply the statutory Feb 1–3 / Apr 6, 2027 municipal dates to Oklahoma City or Tulsa without confirming with the city clerk and county election board. 1. School board & CareerTech filing — Dec 7–9, 2026
Per the State Election Board, candidate filing for 2027 Board of Education (and technology center / CareerTech) elections is Monday, December 7 – Wednesday, December 9, 2026, typically 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. File at the county election board for the district’s supervision county or your county of residence (26 O.S. § 13A-105).

2. Statutory municipal filing — Feb 1–3, 2027 (published)
For the April 6, 2027 statutory municipal general, the SEB calendar and Municipal Candidate Filing Packet list filing Monday, February 1 – Wednesday, February 3, 2027 (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.), at the county election board where the municipality’s central offices are located (11 O.S. § 16-110: first Monday in February through the next Wednesday).
Charter cities (including Oklahoma City and Tulsa) set their own calendars. Check your city clerk and county election board — do not assume the statutory February window.
3. School board & CareerTech filing — Dec 6–8, 2027 (based on state statute)
The State Election Board has not yet published a 2028 school / CareerTech calendar. Under 26 O.S. § 13A-105, candidates file on the first Monday in December through the following Wednesday. For December 2027 that computes to Monday, December 6 – Wednesday, December 8, 2027.
Under 26 O.S. § 13A-103, the Board of Education primary is the second Tuesday in February and the general is the first Tuesday in April — computing to Tuesday, February 8, 2028 and Tuesday, April 4, 2028.
These 2027–28 dates are based on state statute, not a posted SEB 2028 calendar. Confirm with your county election board (and re-check oklahoma.gov) before relying on them.
4. Statutory municipal filing — Feb 7–9, 2028 (based on state statute)
Under 11 O.S. § 16-110, nonpartisan statutory municipal candidates file from 8:00 a.m. on the first Monday in February through 5:00 p.m. the following Wednesday — computing to Monday, February 7 – Wednesday, February 9, 2028. The April municipal general typically aligns with the school general (April 4, 2028 by the same first-Tuesday rule); confirm each city’s election resolution.
Again: charter cities such as Oklahoma City and Tulsa use different schedules. Readers should check their city clerk and county election board.
