Where and how to file

File a Declaration of Candidacy at the county election board for the county that supervises the district, or the county where you reside (multi-county districts). Bring the full packet.

After you file

Contests of candidacy have a short window after filing closes (see the SEB packet). Ballot name rules: name as entered on the Declaration; no titles/prefixes.

Campaign finance basics

  • Local campaigns that raise or spend more than $1,000 generally must register with the Ethics Commission within 10 days — local campaigns.
  • Individual contribution limit on 2026 Ethics charts / local portal: $3,500 per election — re-verify before treating as a 2027 figure. Do not invent 2027 limits.
  • Federal FEC limits apply to federal candidates only.
  • Candidate-committee ads generally need “Authorized and paid for by…” style disclosures. Raise Wins is a consulting firm, not your committee or counsel.
